Poco F2 Pro MIUI 12 update-triggered Widevine L1 (Netflix HD) support issue reported to concerned team

Xiaomi Poco F2 Pro is among those devices that have received the MIUI 12 update. The European, Indonesian, Global, and Russian Poco F2 Pro variants received the stable MIUI 12 update back in July.

The OEM has already initiated the second round of the MIUI 12 update rollout schedule which means more devices will get the update. Moreover, Xiaomi has officially released MIUI 12 in India and has also shared the roadmap for the update rollout for its Indian devices.

While all this sounds very promising, users of the Poco F2 Pro are having a tough time. As per recent reports from the Mi community, it seems that the Poco F2 Pro MIUI 12 update has messed up the Widevine L1 support.

The issue seems to be dropping the Widevine support level to L3 as can be seen in the screenshot shared by a user on the Mi community. This means that users will not be able to enjoy Netflix and some other streaming platforms in HD.

Also, the issue appears to be with the Global Poco F2 Pro variants running MIUI version V12.0.1.0.QJKMIXM. The Mi community Feedback Team has stated that the issue has been reported to the concerned team and they are already working on a fix.

Hi there.

Another Poco F2 Pro user has shared their DRM info on the same thread which clearly shows that Widevine support level is L1. However, the same user has also mentioned that their device runs on MIUI version V12.0.2.0.QJKEUXM. This means that the issue is not present on the European variants.

Meanwhile, a user on a different thread has provided a possible workaround for this issue. As per the information, resetting the certificate for Widevine should fix the support level back to L1. Here’s what the user stated on the Mi community:

Go to Settings – Password & Security – Fingerprint – Fingerprint Payment – Widevine (L1).

If it says “not available”, click on “Certificate” and it should reset your L1 certificate.

However, it is unclear whether this workaround fixes the issue or not. If you have tried this workaround on your Poco F2 Pro running the Global MIUI 12 update, feel free to drop a comment below and let us know if it works or not.

Hopefully, the OEM soon releases a fix for this issue. Till then, you can check out our MIUI 12 update tracker if your device is yet to receive it.
