Obsidian Confirms Pillars of Eternity 2 Console Release Window

The PS4 release window for Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire has finally been confirmed by Obsidian. As you already know, the game was supposed to be released at the end of 2018. However, since there are just a couple of weeks left until the year is over, it became clear that the launch won’t take place in 2018. PC users already received the game earlier, but it still hasn’t been released yet for consoles.

Release window confirmed

It has now been confirmed that the Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire for PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch will come out at some point in 2019. This is official information that came from Obsidian. We also know that the conversion will be handled by Grip Digital, a port specialist.

“If you read our last update, we promised to have more information regarding Deadfire’s console release. As we stated, our partners at Grip Digital have been hard at work, and Deadfire will be releasing on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch in 2019! We are pleased to also announce that the console edition will ship with all expansions, updates, and free DLC’s included at launch! We don’t have an exact date for you yet, but as soon as we have one, we will let you know” read the post.

We weren’t certain that we would get Pillars of Eternity 2 on PS4 after Microsoft purchased Obsidian Entertainment. Therefore, it is nice to see that the game hasn’t been abandoned, and PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch will get it sometime next year.

These games are RPGs where the gameplay is impacted by each choice made by the player. Many people have compared it to Baldur’s Gate. The past two games have been greatly appreciated by their players, and releasing Pillars of Eternity 2 on consoles will definitely offer more gamers a chance to try it out.
