Fix: Can’t Access Fortnite on Xbox One
Clear cache on your console
Clearing your console’s cache performs a cold restart of the Xbox One so you can try and launch Fortnite again. To do this:
- Turn off the console
- Unplug the power cable from the console (at the back)
- Wait about two minutes before plugging back the power cable to the console
- Check the power brick and let it cycle from white to orange light
- Power on the console
Check for updates
To do this:
- Sign in on your console
- Go to Xbox Home
- Select My Games & Apps
- Now select Games and highlight Fortnite
- Press Menu button on the controller
- Select manage game
- Now select the game logo
- Press Menu button on the controller
- Select Updates and download any pending or available updates
Reinstall Fortnite
- Sign in to your console
- Go to Xbox Home
- Select My games & Apps
- Now select Games and highlight Fortnite
- Press Menu button and select Manage game
- Select the game logo and then press Menu on the controller
- Now select Uninstall
- Go to Ready To Install and select Fortnite
- Press Menu and select Install
If the game is crashing or not progressing past start screen when you launch it, you need to update with the latest patch.
To do this:
- Press Xbox button and open guide
- Go to My Games & Apps
- Select See all
- Select Updates
- Check for the updated listed for the Fortnite
- Highlight the update
- Press A button and launch the update
Once complete, you can launch Fortnite. If the console can’t find the update, restart it and the game will update automatically when launched next time.
