WhatsApp has recently added a new security feature that will allow users to stop those who have access to their phones from reading their private messages. At the moment, this feature will only be available on Apple devices.
A new amazing account security feature has been added to WhatsApp
As we’ve mentioned before, the new security feature can only be used for now by those who own an iPhone. However, based on what we’ve heard so far, this new great feature should soon be added to Android devices as well, since the company is currently working on it.
Make sure you have the latest version of WhatsApp
In order to be able to take advantage of this new feature, you need to make sure that you’re using the most recent version of WhatsApp. In case you don’t know whether you have it or not, you will need to go to Settings and then access the “Help” option. Once you’ve done this, you will be able to see the version number of your app. The latest version of the app is 2.19.20, so this is exactly what you should see at the top of your screen, right below “WhatsApp”. Also, if by any chance your app hasn’t been updated in a while, then you can simply go to the iOS App Store and update your WhatsApp from there.
How to use the new feature?
Now that you’re set, here’s what you need to do to be able to take advantage of this new great security feature. First of all, you’ll have to simply open the app and go to Settings. Then you’ll need to access the “Account” menu item and go to “Privacy”. Now, depending on what type of iPhone you own, you’ll be required to unlock WhatsApp by using either the “Touch ID” option or the “Face ID” one. You’ll have to search for the “Screen lock” setting, which is normally toggled off, and then you just have to turn it on. Thanks to this new authentication feature, users can now safely allow other people to use their phones, without being worried that someone will look through their messages on WhatsApp.
