According to the most recent newsletter sent by Pokémon Go to its fans, we might see soon some regional-exclusive Pokémon getting swapped around. Some time has passed since the last regional swap took place, but it looks like Niantic is planning a new one for later this month.
Which Pokémon will be swapped?
Based on what the email said, the Hoenn Pokémon might be the ones that will migrate. So we can assume that the following three sets of regional-exclusive Pokémon will swap regions: Zangoose and Seviper, Illumise and Volbeat, and Solrock and Lunatone. In each of these sets there is one Pokémon that can be found only in Europe, Australia and Asia, while the other three can be currently found only in North America, South America and Africa.
Out of the three sets, Seviper and Zangoose, as well as Lunatone and Solrock have both swapped regions before. As a matter of fact, Zangoose and Seviper have first swapped regions in the game one year ago.
Is there a chance to see other Pokémon swapping regions?
Of course, there are other regional-exclusive Pokémon from the Hoenn region, such as Torkoal – which can be found in some parts of Western Asia and in India, Relicanth – which can be found on certain Pacific Islands, such as Fiji and New Zealand, and Tropius – which can be found in some parts of the Middle East and Africa. When it comes to these Pokémon, it’s probably much less likely that any of them will actually switch regions. However, anything can happen. Maybe Pokémon Go wants to surprise its fans since its third anniversary is on its way, who knows? We’ll probably have to wait and see what other news will follow about which regional-exclusives will be swapped. Let’s also not forget that the game’s first Community Day of 2019 is happening soon, on 12th or 13th of January – depending on the region you are in.
