The Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL proved to be a hit as the public loved the new smartphones released by Google. The devices receive positive reviews from many critics, praising the performance of the camera and the useful AI features that were offered.
The company seems to plan the release of a new mid-range line for 2019. The initiative will be spearheaded by two new Pixel models that are likely to be called Google Pixel 3 Lite and Pixel 3 XL Lite.
For now, it seems that the new devices will be available exclusively for Verizon customers. At this point, there is no official launch date or price but rumors are already floating around the internet.
Some voices claim that the new devices will be released during the spring season with a starting price that should be lower than $400 devices.
Last month, pictures of the supposed Google Pixel 3 Lite surfaced on the Rozetked, a well-known Russian technology blog. The device was listed under the codename of Sargo and was spotted earlier in October inside the ARCore code. More images were leaked since then and some show a larger model that could be the Google Pixel 3 XL Lite.
Many rumors focus on the tech capabilities of the future devices. It is likely that they will use an older Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 or 710 chipset. On the memory side we will find 4GB of RAM, more than enough to handle several tasks at the same time without any hiccups. One downside is the small internal memory, which could be limited to 32GB. It would be lovely if Google added support for a MicroSD card in order to allow users to enjoy more space. A 12MP rear sensor and 8MP front sensor should deliver nice photos and the smaller device will use a 5.5-inch display while the larger one will pack a 6-inch one.
Until the devices are officially unveiled the specs can change.
