Apple has recently released the iOS 12.1.2 update which aims to fix a variety a variety of issues. The problem is that the update also packs an annoying bug.
Many users have complained that they are unable to use mobile data after they opted to install the update on their device. The iOS 12.1.2 was supposed to fix connectivity issue that affected users from Turkey while also bringing a host of other fixes.
After the initial update was released Apple silently released another build that was supposed to tackle unknown issues and the changes seemed minor since the upgrade version number remained the same.
In a few days after the update was first released furious users filled the official forums with several threads. All the posts mentioned the same problem: after upgrading their device they are not able to enable or make use of the cellular data feature.
Some users have also claimed that they face a more serious problem as the device is unable to connect to the network at all, leaving them unable to send or receive voice calls and messages.
Intrepid users were able to discover two workarounds that may be able to help others. They can be found below.
Fix 1
- Go to Settings
- Find and tap on the Cellular section
- Find and disable the Wi-Fi calling feature.
This seems to solve the problem for most users. If that is not the case the second fix may work for you.
Fix 2
- Go to Settings
- Enter the Cellular section
- Look for and tap on the Cellular Data Options section
- Modify the Enable LTE option from Voice& Data to Data Only.
Many users have reported that these fixes worked for them so they may be quite effective. It is hoped that the future 12.1.3 update will solve the problem upon release. The update is now in the beta stage.
