According to some new reports, Samsung is apparently working on developing a new smartwatch, which has been codenamed Pulse. This new device might launch as Gear Sport’s successor. We’ve just come across some news that says the upcoming wearable has been certified by the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), which is a Russian certification agency.
Three Samsung watches to receive certification
Based on the recent news, it looks like the EEC has certified three smartwatches from the South Korean company. These are: SM-R500, the one that is assumed to succeed the Gear Sport, Sm-R375 and SM-R370. As far as other details about the upcoming smartwatch are concerned, nothing else was revealed until now. When it comes to Gear Sport, this was the last watch launched by Samsung to have the Gear branding. The upcoming smartwatch, which has been codenamed Pulse, could be released as Galaxy Sport.
What else is known?
The upcoming SM-R500 watch might still run on the Tizen platform and not on Wear OS, even though it will carry the Galaxy branding. According to what we know from SamMobile, the Galaxy Sport might have 4GB of internal storage and it will focus on fitness, exactly the same as its predecessor. When it comes to the size, SM-R500 is expected to come in different sizes, so not just one, as it was the case with the Gear Sport.
Another thing that we need to take into consideration is the fact that the South Korean company used the SM-R600 model number for Gear Sport and because Galaxy Sport will be using SM-R500, we don’t know exactly if the upcoming device will have big updates in all areas, compared to its predecessor. However, this remains to be seen. The Galaxy Sport smartwatch is expected to have the Bixby smart assistant and it appears that it will also have support for Bixby Reminder. This new watch from Samsung is expected to launch together with Samsung Galaxy S10 in 2019.
