MIUI 10 Global Stable Available for Xiaomi Redmi 5A

Android updates need some time to reach all compatible device. That is because many phone manufacturers come up with their own operating systems, based on Android. For Xiaomi, the system used is MIUI.

The Xiaomi Redmi 5A might not be the most well-known name, but the smartphone managed to be one of the best-selling ones. The device also managed to impress us with its Android updates. The Redmi 5A was initially launched with MIUI 9 on top of Android 7.1.

However, it appears that Xiaomi pushed it even further, and MIUI 10 Global based on Android 8.1 Oreo was also released for the Redmi 5A. MIUI 10 Global Stable for the Redmi 5A was also launched last month, but that version was based on Android 7.1 Nougat. This time, an Android Oreo version will be available, and the update is already randomly pushed to certain users.

“Dear Redmi 5A Users, A New Global Beta Stable V10.1.2.0.OCKMIFI based on Oreo for Redmi 5A is currently being pushed to Random Users. The Update will be Available only via OTA and will be with/without Changelog,” read the post published on the Mi forum.

The beta update

This update is still considered a beta, but if everything goes right, the Global Stable update will be released widely so that all users can get it. If you feel like you cannot wait any longer you can find the OTA for the Android 8.1. Oreo online, as it was posted by XDA developer yshalsager. You can use MIUI Updater from settings to install it, and this means that you won’t have to wait until the update finally reaches your device. You can find more information about this update and others on the Mi forum.
