Based on an announcement that was just made by OnePlus at the yearly Qualcomm press summit in Hawaii, it appears that the Chinese company will sell the first phone to have a Snapdragon 855 chipset in 2019. This is quite exciting news, given the fact that we’re talking about 5G.
What do we know at the moment
At the beginning, OnePlus will sell its first 5G smartphone in the UK, through the EE carrier, and later the device will become available in other parts of the world as well. We also have a confirmation from the company that this 5G phone will not be the much expected OnePlus 7. It looks like OnePlus will create a distinct second line of 5G phones, which will be separate from the current line of smartphones. The 5G network provided by EE next year will be available across 16 cities in the UK.
5G – a promising new beginning
OnePlus is excited to make the announcement about its partnership with a 5G carrier, the same way Samsung and Motorola were thrilled to announce their own news regarding their upcoming 5G phones. Even though the Chinese phone brand is quite small compared to others, by making public the news about its planned 5G smartphone it is letting buyers and carries across the world know that they are serious about expanding. At present time, OnePlus is the main phone brand in India and was recently introduced in the US carrier market through the T-Mobile carrier.
When it comes to the name of the future 5G phone, OnePlus refused to make any comments, but simply judging by how the company named its devices in the past, we can expect something like “OnePlus 5G”. For now, we’ll just need to wait a little bit longer.
