Samsung Galaxy A8 Certified By The Wi-Fi Alliance, Runs Android 8 Oreo

The Galaxy A8s have received its Wi-Fi certification from the Wi-Fi Alliance. If we take a look at the listings we can notice that the smartphone is running Android 8 Oreo.  This is the confirmation that the phone will have Oreo out of the box. The handset appeared on FCC recently as well.

This isn’t surprising news, as we wouldn’t expect Samsung to make the Galaxy A8s the first handset that comes with Android 9 Pie. We expect the Galaxy S10 to come with that Android version. At the moment the One UI is still being tested so there is a chance that the Galaxy Note 9 and the Galaxy S9 will receive it at the beginning of 2019.

Phone specifications

The Wi-Fi Alliance Certification just lets us know that the handset will have WI-Fi capabilities and we also managed to learn about the Android version of the handset. We also know that this device is supposed to be the first Galaxy with the Snapdragon 710 SoC. It comes with 128 GB of internal storage and 6 GB of RAM. 7

It has been reported that the Galaxy A8s will come with a triple-camera setup at the back and a 24-megapixel front camera. The phone could be packing a 3,400 mAh battery. What is unique for this handset is the fact that it will come with a hole in active display area for the front camera, which is something that other Samsung smartphones don’

There is a 6.39-inch Infinity-O FHD+ resolution LCD display that might come with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The Galaxy A8s is supposed to be released in China at the beginning of January. We don’t know yet whether it will be released in other countries as well.
