It Looks Like We Might Have to Wait Longer for the Release of GTA 6

Due to the success of its predecessors, Grand Theft Auto 6 is one of the most anticipated games. Unfortunately, a recent official comment made by Rockstar Games seems to suggest that we will have to wait much longer for the release of the next title from the highly popular GTA series.

It is not a good moment for GTA 6

According to Dan Houser, the co-founder of Rockstar Games, the company is “thankful” for the fact that GTA 6 is not going to be released in the near future. He told the British GQ that the political climate in the present moment, especially in the U.S., does not favor the launch of the next GTA title. Although Houser did not mention Donald Trump as the reason behind the current bad situation, the report suggests so. This could mean that the game will be released not earlier than 2020, possibly even later.

The comment confirms earlier predictions

Earlier report from Michael Pachter, a gaming industry analyst, predicted that the release of GTA 6 will take place sometime in 2021. His forecast was based on other projects that Rockstar Games currently works on. However, the situation might be a little bit different now. One of the recently released titles, Red Dead Redemption 2, has just made its comeback after almost a decade since this game was first introduced. This could mean that Rockstar Games will be able to make GTA 6 their priority.

The development of GTA 6 is likely to be in its early stages

Houser’s comment seems to suggest that the development of GTA 6 might be still in the early stages. He said that “it’s really unclear what we would even do with it, let alone how upset people would get with whatever we did”. Houser explained that it would be “hard to satirise” given the current “intense liberal progression and intense conservatism”.
