O2 UK Android 11 (Android R): Devices supported and eligible for OS update

O2 is one of the most popular network operators in the UK and it offers several phones that could be getting the Android 11 update. Although, before taking a look at the list of eligible phones, you might want to know a bit more details regarding the release of Android 11.

Citing the COVID-19 pandemic, Google decided to cancel its Google I/O event at which Android 11 was supposed to be officially announced. The company releases a new Android version every year, and lately Google I/O has been its launch stage.

Skipping the in-person launch event, Google released the first Android 11 beta last month for its Pixel-branded phones, except the original Pixel and Pixel XL. Following that, brands such as OnePlus, Xiaomi, Realme, and Oppo also released the beta for their flagships.

In fact, by the beginning of July, Android 11 beta was already available on 13 devices from 7 vendors. Further, Tecno Mobile also joined the beta party and released the update to be tested on the Tecno Pouvoir 4.

It’s good to see more OEMs starting to take Android updates seriously. As a result, we can expect to see many phones offered by O2 in the UK to get the upcoming Android 11 update.

Further, it’s also possible that a phone or tablet not mentioned in the list may get the update. At the moment, it’s too early to provide an ETA for the arrival of the stable Android 11 build for any of the phones. The only thing that’s certain is that Google’s Pixel phones will be the first to get it.
