This story is being continuously updated…. New updates are being added at the bottom…..
Original story (published on July 1) follows:
The current sensation among Xiaomi device owners is the upcoming MIUI 12 skin on top of Android. The new skin, which is set to bring a whole new look and feel to eligible devices and some swanky new live wallpapers, is rolling out to Redmi Note 8 Pro today.
Already, a number of devices from the giant Chinese OEM have been updated to this new skin and many more are set to get the update. We have a MIUI 12 tracker to keep track of this development.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro, released in September 2019, remains a solid mid-range device even today. According to Xiaomi’s roadmap to MIUI 12, this device, along with a good number of other Redmi and Xiaomi devices, is set to get updated within the second phase of the rollout.
Today, Xiaomi is rolling out a stable beta build of MIUI 12 to Redmi Note 8 Pro devices. This update should be hitting the units that were selected during the recruitment program.
From the reports we have seen, the MIUI 12 update for the Redmi Note 8 Pro bears a software version number V18.104.22.168 QGGMIXM and weighs in at a little over 600MB.
In a separate post, a Xiaomi Device team representative on the company’s forum said this when asked about the status of MIUI 12 for Redmi Note 8 Pro,
Since there was a MIUI 12 Global Stable Beta Tester Recruitment for Redmi Note 8 Pro, testers will get it soon and once the test is done successfully, it will roll out to other users(maybe by this month)
With this, it is pretty much settled. Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro users should look forward to an update to MIUI 12 pretty soon. As earlier mentioned, today’s rollout is going out to users who successfully signed up for recruitment. However, if you wish to try out this build on your Redmi Note 8 Pro, below is the download link to the MIUI 12 firmware for you to manually install.

Update 5 (July 25)
According to a member from the Mi Device Team, the MIUI 12 update for the Global Redmi Note 8 Pro has rolled out to limited users. The wider rollout will begin once it’s clear that the build does not have any major bugs. The same comment has been shared a few times (1, 2, 3) with multiple users.
Here’s the entire comment from the Mi Device Team member:
For Redmi Note 8 Pro Global, the update has rolled out to limited users, will be roll out to all users once devs determine it is ok to release all users based on user’s feedback.
For other roms of Redmi Note 8 Pro, there isn’t exact date when it will be rolled out but since there was tester recruitment for them, it is expected to be release once the test is finished successfully by pre-selected testers.
