The iPhone SE model has been Apple’s initiative to sell an affordable phone that provides the essential functions of their technology. The phone has been well received since its launch in 2016 despite still being pretty expensive for a so-called budget phone. Rumors of a possible iPhone SE 2 have emerged over the Internet for some time now, but there’s nothing official on this model.
Apple has made a somewhat similar attempt with a special 6S Black Edition that is still being sold by individual retailers in Europe and other parts of the world. But there was not much marketing behind it, and it was not created, especially to be a budget phone. It is just an old model.
The iPhone SE has been officially discontinued, and the iPhone 7 is currently the best value for money, as it is incredibly similar to the iPhone 8 and that is a few hundred more. So, it should be a matter of time until the world gets the iPhone SE 2.
iPhone SE 2 Rumors – Specs, Release Date, and More
Smaller screen
Despite the masses wanting their phones to become more substantial, there is still a significant percentage of users that want a more compact version like the iPhone SE. A phone is still meant to be easily stored in your pocket and clothes are getting more slim fit by the second. Apple thought to replace the SE with the XR as it has a smaller screen.
But the iPhone XR cannot be considered affordable at its current price. So, people are expecting a new iPhone SE 2 phone by 2020 at the latest. Apple has a full plate at the moment with its new 5G connectivity lineup coming next year. But let’s see if they can find some time to make a cheaper phone.
iPhone SE 2 price
The current iPhone SE is still available to purchase but don’t expect to see it in many shops. The best chance you have to find one is on Amazon or an online shop. A new one is currently priced at around 400 to 500 USD worldwide. Depending on the country, the currency and the choice of storage between the 32 GB and 128 GB models.
The price for a future iPhone SE 2 is expected to be the same as it needs to be a budget phone from Apple. But if Apple incorporates too much tech from the X series than the price will go up and nobody wants that.
A fancy 6.1-inch OLED display is not necessary on the budget phone. Not even a fancy 4K camera, despite that kind of being the standard now. iPhone SE 2 needs to be fast, and it needs to be compatible with iOS updates for a significant period.
iPhone SE 2 release date
As mentioned above, Apple did not confirm the iPhone SE 2. All we have are rumors, so, according to them, iPhone SE 2 is expected in 2020. We’ll see if that’s the case next year, but it would definitely make some Apple fans happy.
