Easy AntiCheat (EAC) is a requirement on some online games as it monitors your PC while you play so as to stop cheats from working. If the tool detects an issue, it could lead to you getting banned from playing online.
The holistic anti-cheat service counters hacking and cheating using cutting-edge hybrid technology in multiplayer PC games.
The tool developed by Kamu works on Windows and Mac operating systems, and runs in the background while you play online games. Its focus is mainly on disabling the causes of cheating on technical levels.
Instead of completely banning cheats, it stops cheats from working; though the developers haven’t quite detailed how the tool works just so cheaters don’t know what they’re up against. However, some of the things it looks for include unknown game files, corrupted memory, debuggers, and untrusted system files among others.
If the operating system security features are disabled, for example the kernel patch protection or driver signature verification, EAC won’t run.
You may not even notice the tool running unless you check in your OS or land into some problems; otherwise in the Task Manager it is labeled as EasyAntiCheat.exe, or EasyAntiCheat.
EasyAntiCheat.exe runs concurrently with the online games that use it, so if you’re not playing, the process won’t run in the background. If you launch Fortnite, for example, the process will start up and run for as long as you’re playing, until you shut down or close the game.
Easy AntiCheat works with recently released multiplayer PC games like Fortnite Battle Royale, Far Cry 5, Rust, Watch Dogs 2, and many others on the Easy AntiCheat list of games.
If you find EAC not installed and you can’t even play games, try the fixes below to resolve it.
