Even though Moto G5S and Moto G5S launched back in 2017, Motorola is not going to forget about them anytime soon. The reason why we are saying this is because Motorola has announced today that Moto G5S and Moto G5S Plus are next in line to get the new Android security patch for the month of December 2018. The update is being rolled out OTA (over the air) and it sports the “OPSS28.65-36-6” build number.
Moto G5S and Moto G5S Plus Get New Security Update
The new security patch is based on Google’s Android 8.1 Oreo operating system and it focuses on enhancing the overall security of Moto G5S and Moto G5S Plus. Furthermore, the update also contains a bunch of bug fixes that improve the software performance of the two Motorola smartphones. Since the update is being rolled out OTA, we advise all Moto G5S and Moto G5S Plus owners to keep a close eye on their notifications panel because the update should pop up any minute now.
Manually Triggering the Update
The great thing about Android smartphones is the fact that they give users the ability to manually trigger updates. With that said, Moto G5S and Moto G5S Plus owners can head over to their smartphone’s Settings panel, access the “About the phone” option and then tap on “Software Updates”.
Although, Moto G5S and Moto G5S Plus owners need to make sure that they are connected to a stable Wi-Fi network when downloading the update so that they won’t use up all their mobile data. Not just that, but to also make sure to have at least 50% of battery charge so that the smartphone doesn’t crash in the middle of the updating process. There you have it, Moto G5S and Moto G5S Plus owners who care about their smartphone’s security should get the update as soon as possible.
