India’s UPI (Unified Payments Interface) payment system has made it incredibly easy for users to make inter-bank transactions. The simplicity of UPI has led many individuals to begin using the digital-payment method on a daily basis.
Unfortunately, it appears that users with an SBI account have not been able to make any UPI transactions for the past couple of days. Many affected users have taken to Twitter to seek a response from the bank regarding the issue.
While most reports indicate that UPI transactions from SBI accounts are not going through via Google Pay, it does not paint the whole picture. This is because UPI transactions via SBI accounts aren’t working on other apps in the country such as PayTM, PhonePe, and BHIM UPI.
Here are some of the reports from affected users (1, 2, 3, 4) that have begun flooding in on Twitter:

Fortunately, SBI has not turned a blind eye to these reports. In response to some complaints from affected users, SBI has stated that there are intermittent connectivity issues with their UPI app and a team is working on resolving the issue.
Here’s the complete response from SBI via Twitter:
Dear Customer, We regret the inconvenience caused. There are intermittent connectivity issues with our UPI app. Our team is on the job to resolve it at the earliest. We suggest you to use our other digital channels.
The bank has not stated how long it will take for the problem to be fixed. Until then, SBI suggests its users try out other digital payment methods such as Net Banking. Now users will simply have to wait for the UPI services to resume as normal.
