Vivo V9 came out in 2018 with Android 8.1-based Funtouch OS 4. Since then, the device has been upgraded to Android 9-based Funtouch OS 9. The Vivo V9 is also slated to get the Android 10 (Funtouch OS 10) update but there seems to be no sign of it as of now.
We reported earlier that the Vivo V9 Android 10 (Funtouch OS 10) update is being worked upon and the rollout is expected to begin soon. Check out the full story here. This means that there is still some fine tuning left before Vivo V9 users can grab the OS update.
Also, it was recently reported that the Vivo V9 Youth will not get the Android 10-based Funtouch OS 10 update due to compatibility and stability issues. Fortunately, no such concerns have been raised for the Vivo V9 yet which means that the much awaited update is still on cards.
Nevertheless, the Android 9-based Funtouch OS 9 July security update is now being pushed to Vivo V9. It seems that the device is getting a bunch of optimizations for the Dark mode and Bluetooth along with the updated Android security patch.
The update version is vivo rev 6.13.1 which is up from version 6.12.1. While the Android 10 update appears to be distant, the Vivo V9 July update still comes as a relief. This shows that the Vivo V9 software development team has not given up on the device yet.
It must be noted that the Android 10-based Funtouch OS 10 update was recently pushed to Vivo Z1X and Vivo X30 Pro. And looking at how the OEM is striving to deliver the OS update to its devices, it is safe to assume that Vivo V9 may also get it soon.
