Xiaomi Mi 10 & Mi 10 Pro Dual SIM function isn’t supported on global ROM & here’s how to get it

While Xiaomi isn’t the best OEM in terms of software support, it does offer devices with great hardware. Also, one of the features that Xiaomi devices are known for is the dual SIM card support. However, the OEM is not providing this function with the Global Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro.

The Global variants of Xiaomi Mi 10 and Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro come with the dual SIM card function disabled. While users are not liking this, it seems that Xiaomi has licensing related issues because of which this measure has been taken.

We earlier reported that Xiaomi does not support the call recording feature for the devices running the Global, Russian, and European ROMs. However, a workaround was also provided where users can unlock their devices and flash the China stable ROM to get the feature.

A similar workaround can get the dual SIM card functionality back on both the Mi 10 as well as the Mi 10 Pro. Here’s the workaround provided by one of the users on the Xiaomi community:

For those who want dual sim support on global version of this phone, there is a way. I hope xiaomi wont block it but you just have to buy dual sim tray from chinese version (available on aliexpress for few bucks) and flash chinese rom or xiaomi.eu (its based on chinese rom) and your phone will have 2 IMEI numbers and dual sim will work perfectly fine. I can confirm it’s working 100%. Xiaomi probably blocked dual sim on global version because of license fees but simply changing to xiaomi.eu rom and buying dual sim tray is everything you need to have it working.

Those who are on the Global Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro units can switch to the China stable ROM or try the Xiaomi.eu ROMs. Additionally, a dual SIM card tray will be required which it seems is available online. A detailed guide to unlock the bootloader of Xiaomi devices can be found here.

Also, it must be noted that the Indian variant of the Mi 10 also comes with the dual SIM card functionality enabled. This means that switching to the India stable ROM might also work, however, the same cannot be said for the call recording feature.

Nevertheless, the workaround involves unlocking the bootloader and doing so will void the warranty of your device. So, do this only if you absolutely need the dual SIM card functionality on your Xiaomi Mi 10 or Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro.
