[Update] Samsung One UI 3.0 update (Android 11) eligible devices & expected release date

Seven months into the Android 10 era, Samsung has only managed to push the new OS to at least 20 devices, including their multiple 4G and 5G variants.

For those who have already picked up the new OS, you’ll know that it comes with the company’s in-house One UI 2.0 custom skin. Although there is a newer One UI 2.1 update rolling out, it’s still based on Android 10 OS.

But keen followers already know that Google has started working on the next iteration of Android. Codenamed Android R, the stable version will arrive as Android 11.

As far as Samsung Galaxy devices are concerned, Android 11 should arrive with One UI 3.0 on top. But when? Wait, is your device even eligible for the said One UI 3.0 update? Let’s find out.

NOTE: Samsung hasn’t released official One UI 3.0 update details, but with our team’s vast knowledge and years of experience covering Samsung Android OS updates, we do have an idea of when the OS will be released and the eligible devices.

The first One UI 2.0 stable update started rolling out in late November 2019. This came after a month and a half of testing the beta version following the global launch on October 14, 2019.

Unless Samsung has plans of adding one of its own into Google’s Android R public beta testing program, little might change with respect to the availability of One UI 3.0 based on Android 11.

Granted, we could see another October launch for the One UI 3.0 beta program and the stable release the following month, perhaps a little earlier than last year. We will update this post when the official details come out.

We don’t know of any imminent plans from Samsung as far as changing its software update policy is concerned. For the uninitiated, the South Korean company provides two OS upgrades to all of its devices, premium or budget.

That said, all Samsung Galaxy smartphones and tablets that came pre-installed with Android 9 Pie should expect another (final) OS upgrade to One UI 3.0 based on Android 11. This includes units still waiting for their first major OS upgrade to One UI 2.0 or 2.1 for that matter.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ will receive the One UI 3.0 update

The OS will also be made available to all Sammy devices that come pre-installed with the latest stable One UI 2.x based on Android 10. This will be their first major OS upgrade, meaning this group should also be in line for the next update to Android 12.

Below is the list of devices (in no particular order) that should be upgraded to One UI 2.1 update based on Android 11 beginning later this year, although most of them will likely see the OS in 2021.

Note that this list might change at some point, be it to include more devices that are yet to be unveiled like the Galaxy Note 20 or maybe to exclude others, although the latter case is unlikely.
