Gamers are waiting for the launches of the next-gen consoles of two of the biggest companies in the world. The PS5 and Xbox Scarlett are two of the most discussed upcoming gaming consoles, and some even speculate that we will be able to get our hands on the new models sometime next year. This leads to the following question: how much will they cost?
CHIP.de, a German site, recently ran a survey to see how much would gamers be willing to pay for Sony’s and Microsoft’s upcoming consoles. The results are in, and we are thrilled to discuss them. Therefore, let’s dive in!
More than 5,000 people took part in the survey, voting their preferred price range for the devices. As it turns out, gamers are willing to pay somewhere between €400 and €600 for the PS5 and Xbox Scarlett.
Gamers are ready to pay more money on PS5 and Xbox Scarlett next-gen consoles
The results are quite surprising. PS5’s predecessor, the PS4, was launched into the market at a price of approximately $376. The difference between $376 and $600 is considerable, and it’s surprising to discover that fans would force their budget so much just to get their hands on the next-gen consoles.
However, the extra cost could be owed to the impressive features that the consoles promise. For example, the PS5 includes a custom-designed Ryzen 3 CPU, 8K visual display, and an SSD drive for super-fast loading times.
Of course, the survey is not an official source, and there is no way to know what Sony is planning yet. Mark Cerny, Lead System Architect for the PS5, has been asked on multiple occasions about the price of the next console, but he chose not to divulge anything. Therefore, we will have to wait for Sony to make an official announcement.
