When your iPhone won’t connect to App Store, won’t download or update apps or even sign in, it could be caused by your internet connection, ios updates or even a server outage. We’re going to look at a few reasons and their corresponding fixes so you can get back to downloading and updating your favorite apps.
How to fix iPhone won’t connect to App Store
Server outage
If Apple has a server outage, which happens from time to time, App Store may not work and your iPhone won’t connect to it. To resolve this, you need to first check Apple’s System Status page to find the problems with all of its online services. App Store usually tops the list, but if the issue happened recently, it may not have been picked up yet. The site frequently updates in order of minutes, and not seconds.
If you find that list blank, you can check Twitter for relevant terms to find out if there are other users with the same problem. If it’s down, your iPhone won’t connect to App Store, and you won’t be able to sign in or update/download apps.
Internet connection
To connect to App Store or even download and update apps, you need a good, reliable and strong internet connection. Ensure you’re connected and if not, you can try another WiFi network, or check if you’re set to download over 3G or 4G and adjust accordingly.
If you use a cellular connection, you may want to check your data and see if it’s the problem. You may just have run out of data so you need to check and if you’ve run out, pay for more and try connecting to App Store again.
No further support for the app
It’s possible you’re trying to connect to App Store to update an app that’s no longer supported by ios. Try and download a different app to see if it’s the cause of the connection or update failure. You can also search for the app in Store, and if it’s not there, then it’s not supported.
Reset the iPhone
Resetting the phone could jog the App Store into working and you can try to connect again. First, log out and log back into the Store. You can also go to Settings>iTunes & App Store and tap on Apple ID then tap Sign out. Sign in again with your Apple ID and password.
No storage
Without storage or memory space on RAM, your iPhone won’t connect to App Store. Tap the Home button twice and swipe up to close Store. Reopen and see if it can connect. If it still won’t connect, close all open apps, and turn your phone on and off again to clear memory.
Update your software
To do this, open Settings>General>software updates and find available updates and update them. Try connecting your iPhone to the Store again to see if it resolves the problem.
Reset Network settings
To do this, go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings.
