Evo co-founder Tom Cannon confirmed that Riot Games, the devs behind the popular League of Legends and the new Teamfight Tactics mode, works on a new fighting game. Accordingly, this new title would be the first one that Riot Games would release without any connection with League of Legends, that besides the Mechs vs. Minions board game.
“Riot Games is excited to confirm that we’re developing a fighting game. We have experienced the profound impact this genre can have on players and want to bring the fighting game experience to more people. We’re working hard to create a game truly worthy of the vibrant fighting game community and are making progress, but still have a long way to go before we’re ready to share more details,” admitted Riot Games for US Gamer.
League Of Legends Dev, Riot Games, Confirmed To Develop A New Fighting Game
Before Riot’s statement, Tom Cannon already confirmed the game in an interview that went live on Twitch. Noteworthy is that Cannon was the co-founder of Radiant Entertainment, a games studio that created Stonehearth and worked on Rising Thunder fighting game in 2016. That project was shut down shortly after its first test phases when Riot Games reportedly employed Radiant Entertainment for a new game.
Since 2016, rumors have emerged, suggesting that Riot Games would release a fighting game. Now, we have the confirmation on that aspect, but there are not many details on the upcoming title. According to Tom Cannon, the game is far from launching, and Riot Games and Tom’s team still have a lot to work on, at the moment. As Cannon reported, more information on the upcoming Riot Games’ fighting game would soon come out. So far, we know nothing more than the confirmation that League of Legends’ devs now develops a new title.
