Dying Light 2: Release Date and Cross-Gen Game

The first Dying Light game was one of the most awaited games of all time and it marked a true renaissance of the zombie survival genre. After 4 years since the game’s release, gamers are aching for a sequel.

Release date

Dying light 2 was promoted at the 2019 E3 conference when Techland presented a new trailer that focused on the game’s amazing graphics and fluid gameplay.

The release of Dying Light 2 has been rescheduled for the spring of 2020.

Cross gen

The game was confirmed for release on the PS4 and now was confirmed for release on the PS5 too.

Pawel Rohleder, Chief Technology Officer at Techland said: ‘Techland always has had an eye on the latest new toys! To be more specific—yes, the plan since the beginning of production has been to make Dying Light 2 a cross-generation title’.

This might mean that Dying Light 2 will pioneer cross gen gameplay and maybe will (hopefully) make a trend out of it.

Playing your way

One of the most interesting features of Dying Light 2 is the ability for players to craft their own personal paths and alter the narrative around their unique gameplay, a feature that wasn’t initially planned, and almost didn’t make it to the final game.

Initially, the game started simple, devs say, but after realising that their game seemed more or less like a sandbox type game, they went back to the planning board. Thankfully, they went for a linear narrative.

Devs understand that making your own decisions and suffering the consequences had greater impact on the gameplay than simply following a script, and we are very thankful for that. For now we will just have to be patient for the game’s release, and hope that trailers or even full gameplay videos will be out soon.
