No Service and Signal on Android [FIXES]

When you have no service and signal on your Android device, whether it’s a smartphone or tablet, you may not be able to access any services or apps for that matter. The error is usually displayed due to a null IMEI, but there other reasons that may cause it.

Sometimes the problem comes up owing to bad apps interfering with signal, or radio signals being turned off automatically due to conflicts with the GPS or WiFi, and the error is displayed.

Fix No Service and Signal on Android

Restart your device

This is one of the preliminary quick fixes you can take when you get any Android issues. Press and hold the power button and tap restart.

Enable Airplane/flight mode

This helps resolve some app issues. You can pull down the notification area and tap on Airplane or flight mode, and leave it on for about half a minute and then tap it again to turn it off.

Select your network operator manually

To do this:

• Open Settings
• Find Mobile networks and tap it
• Tap Network operators to search for available networks and select yours manually

Check your SIM card

If your SIM card is displaced, it can cause the no service and signal error on your Android device. Make sure it is correctly placed and then try establishing a connection again.

Use Dialer to enter Service Mode

To do this:

• Enter the code: *#*#4636#*#* in your dialer to enter Service mode
• Click on Device information or Phone information and tap Run Ping test
• The Radio option will show below so check if it’s on or off and press to turn on
• Restart your device and check if it solves the issue

Restore original ROM

Sometimes, the no service and signal error shows up when you install a custom ROM or the ROM is for a different headset variant. Go back to the original ROM to install it using recovery. To do this:

• Copy the ROM and turn off the device
• Press the power and volume down buttons together to get a black screen with options
• Follow the instructions to install ROM

Null or unknown IMEI number

Check if your IMEI number is corrupted or nulled and then restore it by doing the following:

• Power on your device and enter dialer then type *#06# to see the IMEI number. If it show null, then it’s corrupted and you need to configure it
• Dial *#197328640# or *#*#197328640#*#* to open Command mode. You can select the Common option
• Select option 1 that’s Field Test Mode and disable it. The process will change and restore your IMEI number but press menu key button before leaving Command screen
• Select key input
• Select option 2 to turn off FTM
• Remove SIM card and battery from your device and wait a few minutes before reinserting your battery
• Turn on the device and dial *#197328640#
• Go to the Debug screen
• Tap Phone control>NAS Control>RRC and then tap RRC revision
• Turn off the phone and insert the SIM to check if the problem is resolved
