Google Play Instant Apps and Games Not Working [SOLVED]

Instant Apps

Google Play Instant, formerly Google’s Android Instant Apps technology is a handy tool to use when you want to play a game in Google Play Store before deciding to download and install it. Without seeing the “Try Now” button on the app store’s page, however, you won’t be able to play games instantly so you need to check your device settings.

We’ve listed some troubleshooting things to look out for when the “Try Now” button isn’t showing in the Play Store so you can try any or all and see if they fix the problem.

Fix Google Play Instant apps and games not working

Check that the game supports Android Instant Apps

If you don’t see the “Try Now” option next to Install on the app’s page in Play Store, you need to check whether the game has an Instant App version. This can be a trial for a specific level in the particular game or a mini-game experience that lets you test run and have a feel of the full game.

Instant Apps

Developers are creating Instant App versions for their created games, and these can be played either in Google Play Games app or in Google Play Store. They can also be played wherever the links to the game are shared to Google.

You can check Google’s Instant Gameplay collection to check the available games or if there are new ones since March 20, 2018, when games like Clash Royale, Solitaire, and Mighty Battles among others were the only available ones.

Non-games have more options for trying out as more regular apps now support Instant Apps since its introduction. You can try Google’s Apps to Try Now collection for more on what’s available and find Try Now button on the Google Play Store page.

Check your Android version

If you’re running Android 6.0 or higher, then your device supports Android Instant Apps. This means you need at least Marshmallow on your Android device to access the feature, and you may have it if you bought your phone within the past two or so years.

Enable Instant Apps

The first time you try playing an Instant App from Google Play Store, it’ll prompt you to opt in or decline. If you select “No Thanks”, the prompt goes away for good, and the “Try Now” link will disappear or open information in your browser.

To enable Instant Apps, do this:

  • Open Settings and tap Google
  • Tap Instant Apps from the Services options list
  • Select the Google account you want to use for Instant Apps
  • Tap Yes I’m In to authorize Instant Apps

To check the settings in Play Store, do this:

  • Tap the menu and then tap Settings
  • Now tap Use apps without installation
  • Ensure your Google account has Android Instant Apps enabled

Note: If your favorite app doesn’t have this feature, it doesn’t mean it isn’t working, it just means it doesn’t support it yet.
