OnePlus did an incredible job with the new OnePlus 7 Pro, but the flagship’s price went up, too. There’s also another option: Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus, but this device’s price is even higher. However, we decided to compare these two smartphones to find out which one is more advantageous to have.
OnePlus 7 Pro comes with a slightly larger size than the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus: OnePlus has 162.6 x 75.9 x 8.8 mm, while the Galaxy S10 Plus has 157.6 x 74.1 x07.8mm. Setting its sights on Samsung, the Chinese flagship sports a 6.67-inch Fluid AMOLED screen size which has a resolution of 3,120 x 1,440 pixels, while the Galaxy S10 Plus comes with a 6.4-inch Dynamic AMOLED screen size with a resolution of 3,040 x 1, 440 pixels. Both phones are also HDR10+ qualified.
Android 9.0 Pie powers both devices. While OnePlus 7 Pro comes with two variants of storage space, namely 128GB and 256GB, Galaxy S10 Plus offers three variants: 128GB, 512GB and lastly, 1TB.
OnePlus are already famous for not offering a MicroSD card slot on their devices, and their 7 Plus keeps the tradition. In exchange, the S10 Plus comes with the MicroSD card slot and allows up to 512GB. The difference between these devices regarding the RAM is that OnePlus 7 Pro offers an extra version, a 6GB, a 8GB and a 12GB, while Galaxy S10 Plus comes in two variants: a 8GB and a 12GB version. Both devices are powered by the same processor, namely the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset, and you can expect incredible performance with neither devices encountering issues while running apps or games.
Camera, battery life
OnePlus has an insanely good reputation regarding the camera quality on their devices. The OnePlus 7 Pro comes with a triple lens camera: a 48mp lens with optical and electronic stabilization, 16 ultra-wide angle lens and 8M telephoto lens on the back, and the selfie camera has 16mp. S10 Plus sports triple lens camera consisting in a 16mp ultra-wide angle with a viable aperture, 12mp with a variable aperture as well, and 12mp telephoto rear. However, the S10 Plus is better when it comes to selfies as it combines a 8mp lens with a 10mp lens on the front-facing camera.
OnePlus 7 Pro versions’ video quality consists of 2,160p at 60 fps, 1,080p at 240 fps, and 720p at 480 fps. The S10 Plus comes with the same features in this category, except for the 720p version which comes at 960 fps.
Samsung’s S10 Plus comes with an additional 100mAh of battery, and it proves it as it manages approximately an extra hour than the OnePlus 7 Pro. However, the famous Chinese device charges incredibly fast, going from 15 percent to 53 percent in just 20 minutes. In exchange, Galaxy S10 Plus supports Qi wireless charging, and even reverse charging, used to charge other devices with access to the same charging system. The S10 Plus also comes with Dex mode, Gear VR support, and Bixby, which is now supporting routines.
Both devices sport the Bluetooth 5.0 version, and both have USB-C ports, with Samsung’s device having an additional port, namely the 3.5mm headphone jack.
The two smartphones have no fingerprint sensor on the back because they are built in displays.
The S10 Plus is also water resistant, rated as IP68. Both smartphones come with the Google Play Store app marketplace, as the majority of Android devices. Also, they both are supported by the same networks, namely T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint.
OnePlus 7 Pro comes in three colors: Mirror gray, Nebula Blue, and Almond, while the Galaxy S10 Plus features six color variants: Prism Black, Prism White, Prism Blue, Flamingo Pink, Ceramic Black, and Ceramic White.
OnePlus’ smartphones are usually incredible quality-price wise, but the latest flagship’ starts at $699 is a little higher than usual. Meanwhile, you can get the S10 Plus at a starting price of $1000, going up to $1600 for the 1TB model.
You can purchase the OnePlus 7 Pro from the company’s official website or the T-Mobile stores in the U.S. Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus can be acquired from Samsung or Amazon, also from numerous other online and off retailers.
The Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus would win over the OnePlus 7 Pro, but it depends on you whether you want to spend that money on it. The most compelling reason to choose the S10 Plus is probably its impressive camera, but also because it has a longer battery life, is water resistant, supports wireless charging, and comes with a few other features that OnePlus 7 Pro doesn’t have. However, if you prefer the OnePlus for its features but also because it is more affordable, you won’t be disappointed because the device delivers excellent.
