Uncover Jailbreak iOS 12 Can Partially Support iPhone XS, XS Max, XR and iPad Pro (2018)

We have all seen how much attention the Unc0ver jailbreak for iOS 12 – iOS 12.1.2 got in the recent weeks, and it’s obvious why. All A8 through A11 devices can now use the jailbreak, except for iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR, and the iPad Pro from 2018.

The good news is that the @pwn20wnd team finally added support for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 5s to Unc0ver, and now it also added partial support to the latest iPhones – A12 – A12X Bionic devices. Let’s check out more about the Unc0ver 3.0.

iOS 12 Jailbreak for iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR and iPad Pro (2018)

Having partial support for Unc0ver jailbreak for the three iPhones and the 2018 iPad Pro means that you can use this tool to jailbreak the devices.

However, there are some issues, considering it doesn’t have Cydia support so you cannot install jailbreak tweaks yet. But you can use the jailbreak tool to block updates and mount again the root filesystem as RW.

As for Cydia support, Saurik hasn’t yet stated anything about it.

The changelog on GitHub of the tool shows what the partial support brings:

  • Enable partial (Export/Un-Export Kernel Task Port, Set HSP4 as TFP0, Dump APTicket, Overwrite Boot Nonce, Log Slide, Log ECID, Disable Auto Updates, Remount RootFS, Disable App Revokes, Restore RootFS) iOS 12.0 – 12.1.2 support for A12-A12X devices
  • Update the APT lists cache file for repositories
  • Fix the voucher_swap exploit for the beta firmwares on A12-A12X
  • Update the APT lists cache file for repositories.

iPhone XS users have reported a few issues on the iOS 12.1.1 beta 3. They experienced reboots while jailbreaking the devices. To avoid this issue, choose airplane mode before you start the process. Also, make sure that you have no OTA file on your device, or else the device will enter a respring loop.

The full support of Uncover Jailbreak iOS 12 for the A12 – A12X Bionic devices should soon be released, so check back here for more updates.
