Huawei, which has just unveiled Mate X, the company’s first foldable phone, is about to launch its new flagship device, P30, during an event in Paris on March 26th. This exciting announcement was made by Clement Wong, who is the vice president of global product marketing at Huawei. Speaking to Android Central, he confirmed that the top-end version of this highly-anticipated device will have a periscope-like camera equipped with a ’super-zoom’ feature.
The P30 Pro will feature greatly improved zoom
Although Wong did not provide us with exact specs of P30 Pro’s zoom, it is very possible that this feature will be greatly improved compared to the last year’s P20 Pro, which has 3x optical zoom and 5x hybrid zoom. According to recent reports, the upcoming smartphone might have either 10x zoom or 5x lossless zoom. The latter captures a bigger amount of pixels than is needed for a single picture, thanks to which the quality of images is not affected while we scale them up.
Huawei’s vice president did not specify the type of technology that the company will use on P30 Pro, but he said that this device will be able to do what has never been done before. Android Central interpreted this comment as a hint that the next-gen smartphone will feature a mechanical zooming lens.
Other camera-related improvements
We know for sure that P30 Pro will see some huge improvements to its Night Mode, which is going to be hardware-based. Moreover, a recent teaser picture that was taken using P30 Pro and which was posted by Sina Weibo seems to suggest that the upcoming smartphone will have a quad-camera setup.
The P30 series is scheduled to be unveiled on March 26th, and we are sure that the closer we get to the launch date, the more will be known about Huawei’s highly anticipated flagship device.
