Unc0ver Jailbreak for iOS 12 – iOS 12.1.2 is Activated via Siri Shortcuts

Apple is adamant about not letting iPhone and iPad users jailbreak their devices and the Cupertino based tech giant has gone to the point of paying security analysts for information about iOS kernel exploits just to make sure that jailbreak developers don’t get their hands on them. However, one of Apple’s latest features for iOS 12.1.2 might have opened the “gates” for the Unc0ver jailbreak.

There hasn’t been news on the highly anticipated Unc0ver jailbreak for iOS 12 – iOS 12.1.2 in a long while, but now, we got lucky and the developer who is in charge of creating the jailbreak tool has posted an update on Reddit. The developer said that he managed to utilize the new Siri Shortcuts feature in order to kickstart the jailbreak tool.

As previously mentioned, the Unc0ver jailbreak developer posted an update on Reddit where he said that Siri can be used to jailbreak iOS 12 – iOS 12.1.2. Not just that, but the Unc0ver developer also posted a short video where he proved that Unc0ver app runs through the vulnerabilities after he gives a vocal command to Siri Shortcuts.

The iPhone in the video showcased by the Unc0ver developer restarts after a couple of seconds and it now has Cydia installed. This is exciting news for jailbreak fans and it gives everyone hope that the highly anticipated Unc0ver jailbreak will arrive soon.

Still in the Testing Phase

On the downside of things, we have to note that despite being functional, the Unc0ver jailbreak tool is still in the testing phase. Therefore, the jailbreak might need a couple more weeks until a stable version is released. In addition, all iPhone and iPad users who are looking forward to jailbreaking their device should make sure to not download Apple’s latest software updates.
