Samsung’s Unpacked event finally took place yesterday and the tech giant gave us some details about its most recent wearable. Now we have the chance to take a good look at the newest smartwatch from the South Korean company, Samsung Galaxy Watch Active. Here’s everything you need to know about this device.
No more rotating bezel
The first thing that you will notice about the new watch is that the rotating bezel is missing, which comes as a little bit of a shock. Instead of the bezel that was present before on previous smartwatches, the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active will rely on its two side buttons and its touchscreen for navigation. This means that you will mostly have to swipe left and right for your actions.
Other features
Also, when you are on the home screen, you will be able to locate widgets on the right, while the notifications will be on the left. Additionally, in the app screen, you will need to tap one of the small icons once and then tap in the center of the watch’s screen again in order to open it.
Even though these steps may seem a little bit strange, at least the wearable is pretty fast and it seems more responsive than smartwatches with Wear Os on them. The current device is running Samsung’s Tizen software.
You will also notice that the latest watch from Samsung comes with a pretty thick bezel around its display. Because of this, the screen of the device looks quite small. One important thing is that the Samsung Galaxy Watch is incredibly light, which means that it shouldn’t be a problem if you want to use it for a longer time.
When will the smartwatch be available?
Those who are interested in purchasing the latest wearable from Samsung will be able to do so starting with the 8th of March. The smartwatch will be available for the price of $199.99.
