Sims 5 Might Come Later Than Expected, Considering Sims 4 Success

You might be like many old Sims 4 players who stopped playing the game after the hype was gone. Or you might have begun playing it again as EA kept adding more content. But did you know that The Sims 4 brought in over $1 billion in nearly five years, and in 2018 the game’s community grew by millions of players?

According to the official transcript of the financial report which was released on 5 February, The Sims 4 has been very profitable, stated EA CEO, Andrew Wilson:

Our Sims franchise continues to thrive in live services. Our Sims 4 community grew by 4.8 million unique players last year, our monthly active players continued to grow year-over-year and we just crossed $1 billion in lifetime revenue for the game.

More DLCs for the Current Sims Games Across PC, Mobile, and Console

The good news is that we’ll surely see more of The Sims franchise, be it more expansion packs for the current Sims games on PC, mobile, and console, or a new Sims installment.

We continue to have strong expectations for The Sims going forward. And FY ’20, we are bringing at least 20 new content drops and expansion packs to our Sims games across PC, mobile and console.

Why did we say that The Sims 5 might come later than expected? First of all FY ’20 means the fiscal year which begins in April 2019 and ends in March 2020, which means we won’t hear anything official from EA about the Sims 5 until next year. Best case scenario, The Sims 5 could be teased at E3 2019, and then finally announced at E3 2020 to be launched at a later date. Maybe, (and that’s a big maybe), we will get to see The Sims 5 by the end of 2020, if we’re lucky.

One thing is true: The Sims 5 will be here, considering the franchise is still making a lot of profit even after all these years. And when it comes, it better bring along a ton of content and improvements and listen to the fans’ plea of introducing essential parts that were missing in the Sims 4.
