iOS 12.1.2 Exploit Presented by Alibaba Security Engineer

It looks like we have some news about the iOS 12 jailbreak, so let’s take a look at what’s new.

A post about an iOS 12 exploit was recently made

An iOS 12 exploit was recently posted on Twitter by @SparkZheng, who is a security engineer at Alibaba, as well as a prominent figure in the jailbreak community. As you probably know already, Zheng started at the beginning of the year a “(Mach) Post-Oriented Programming Attack Proof” series. According to Redmond Pie, this is suspected to be the basis of a presentation that will probably take place at a security conference. The exact location of this presumed event is not known yet.

Until now, we’ve seen two posts from the security engineer. The first one was called (Mach) Post-Oriented Programming Attack Proof 1 and it was posted online earlier last week. The post was related to a local privilege escalation for the macOS 10.14.2.

The second post was made later last week and it was called (Mach) Post-Oriented Programming Attack Proof 2. This one was about an iOS 12 exploit. It seems that Zheng also attached some command line screenshots, together with iPhone 6s running iOS 12.1.2.

There’s some hope for the jailbreak community

We all know that a few months have passed since the jailbreak community is waiting for a public release of an iOS 12 jailbreak. Thanks to the second post that was recently made by well-known Alibaba engineer, Zheng, the community can now hope again that an iOS 12 jailbreak public release is on its way – an iOS 12.1.2 jailbreak in this case.

Hopefully, we will not have to wait for too much longer for the release to arrive, as the jailbreak community is getting impatient. For now, we’ll just have to wait a little bit to see what follows next and if there will be another post made by Zheng.
