We don’t have an official launch date for the Samsung Galaxy S10 series yet, but we know that it’s going to be released soon, probably at the MWC event in Barcelona in February. Based on the latest rumors, we know that Samsung is planning to release three LTE and two 5G-powered variants of the S10 series.
Thanks to a recent benchmark listing from Geekbench, we can get an idea about what the specifications of Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite might be.
Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite specifications
Based on the listing from the popular benchmarking database, Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite (listed as SM-G970U) will have a Qualcomm-made processor, with a frequency of 1.78 GHz. The device has a motherboard codenamed “msmnile” and it will come with 6GB of RAM. Also, it looks like the smartphone will come with Android Pie out of the box. According to this, the phone is not going to be a mid-range device, as it was believed until now.
Throughout the last couple of months, we’ve seen several benchmarks of various prototypes that featured the same motherboard being associated with Snapdragon 855, so it’s probably already established that Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite will come equipped with the new SoC from Qualcomm.
Unfortunately, the actual benchmarks of the Galaxy S10 Lite are not really impressive. We can also assume that the prototype that was just tested is not finished, running unpolished software.
Samsung SM-G970U
When it comes to the model number that appears on the listing, SM-G970U, we can easily see that it is related to the SM-G960U label that is connected to Samsung Galaxy S9. Based on the rumors, the standard Samsung Galaxy S10 is expected to carry an SM-G973 model number, while Galaxy S10 Plus should have the SM-G975 number on the inside. As far as the letter “U” at the end of the designations is concerned, this suggests that the phone will be sold unlocked in th United States.
