Apple Watch Users Can Now Listen to Music Offline with Pandora

Forget about Spotify, all Apple Watch users can now have access to offline music playback with Pandora. The new updated app allows us to enjoy our favorite songs without using the iPhone tether. The latest version of Pandora was built from the scratch, providing users with full “integration with the Apple Watch”.

Spotify lost the race against Pandora

Streaming music has become one of the most recent features of modern wearables and Apple is obviously following this trend, offering such option to users of its smartwatches for quite some time. One thing, however, was missing, as until now there was no way to listen to music offline without the iPhone tether. Although it was expected that Spotify will bring this feature to Apple Watches, Pandora has managed to beat its competitor.

Pandora listened to its users

The changelog accompanying the updated Pandora app stated, “You asked, and we listened! By popular demand, we bring you a brand new built-from-the-ground-up app that’s seamlessly integrated into the Apple Watch experience.” The app now gives users access to remote audio playback controls, allowing them to Thumbs Up their favorite tracks straight on the Now Playing screen. Moreover, users do not need an internet connection to listen to music.

The offline playback requires a paid Pandora subscription

The newly added offline playback can be used without the iPhone tether, but it is necessary to have a paid Pandora subscription. There are two options available for users: Pandora Plus and Pandora Premium. The former costs $4.99 per month and comes with offline playback, unlimited replays and skips, and is free of ads. The latter costs $9.99 per month and it includes some additional features, such as better quality of audio and the ability to search for songs and to create playlists.
