Why Is Pokémon: Let’s Go Shorter to Play

If you are a fan of Pokémon: Let’s Go, then you’ve probably already noticed that the game has a shorter path to the Hall of Flame. We’ve just come across an explanation from the game director Junichi Masuda as to why the game has been structured like this.

Here’s why Pokémon: Let’s Go is shorter to play

We can probably all agree that Pokémon: Let’s Go Pikachu! and Eevee! have brought a more improved experience of the game than usual. However, this also meant that the game became shorter for numerous players. Director Junichi Masuda explained why it is like this. Basically, he wanted for the game to not occupy too much of the players’ free time, especially given the times that we live in, where everyday there’s something new capturing our attention.

“When you consider how people live in this day and age, I think it’s safe to say everyone’s pretty busy. The way we spend our team is different now from how it was 20 years ago. Thanks to smartphones, you’re constantly bombarded with new information, and it’s natural that you end up thinking you want to play some other games, too”, Masuda said.

How do the fans react to this?

It’s probably safe to say that most Pokémon players, especially those that are usually playing the game quite a lot, are not used to something like this. This may mean that they are not necessarily happy with the director’s decision. On the other hand, if we think about the fact that this move may also attract new Pokémon: Let’s Go players, the change makes sense. After all, the game was not supposed to occupy players’ whole lives, but rather be a small part of their everyday life, on their daily commute, without taking over too much of their time.
