iOS 12.1.1 Brings Back The Ability To Flip FaceTime Camera With One Tap

While iOS 12 brought many useful additions, users were disappointed back in September when they realised they can no longer flip the camera on FaceTime with just a simple tap. iOS 12 got rid of the “flip camera” button, and user who wanted to use this option had to go to the menu button instead.

With this change, users had to tap two different buttons in order to flip the screen during a call. This took a lot more time, and many users complained about this decision. For those who enjoyed to switch the camera view constantly, this decision made things a lot more difficult.

Apple brings back that feature

It appears that Apple decided to bring back this feature. The iOS 12.1.1 update allows users once again to flip the camera by tapping the screen. This makes it a lot easier to chat, and it is nice to see that the user complaints were taken seriously.

In addition to that, the update allows you once again to capture Live Photos during one-on-one calls. This feature also existed on previous iOS versions, but it was removed from FaceTime once iOS 12 was launched.

Other new additions

IOS 12.1.1 comes with other minor improvements as well. For example, on iPhone XR it is possible to preview notifications by using haptic touch. Dual SIM and eSIM support will also be added for additional carriers on iPhone XR, XS and XS Max.

In addition to that, it is possible to hide the sidebar in News whenever you are using an iPad in landscape orientation. The update also comes with fixes for various bugs, such as the ones affecting Face ID availability, automatic time zone updates, Voice Memo iCloud updates and more.
