It looks like fans of the original Pokémon games will be able to enjoy the recent Pokémon Go even more, as player-versus-player battles are set to be introduced on the hugely popular title.
Trainer Battles will soon be available on Pokémon Go
According to a recent tweet by Niantic, which was posted through the company’s Pokémon Go account, Trainer Battles will soon become a part of the game. However, the deadline for the introduction of this feature has not been revealed.
Trainer Battles will be fought in three leagues
The company has not given us any details on how a Trainer Battle will be fought. However, the tweet stated that players will fight in three leagues (Great, Ultra and Master), corresponding to different levels of the Pokémon’s strength, which are based on their Combat Power (CP).
Niantic said that “trainers will need to choose a league before going into a Trainer Battle, with each league having different maximum Pokémon CP limits”. When it comes to the league caps per Pokémon, Great League has 1,500 CP limit, Ultra League – 2,500 CP limit and Master League – no limit.
The new feature will make Pokémon Go even more fun
Due to the fact that players will have to set strength limits for their Pokémon, it will be more important to choose the right Pokémon for the battle, rather than to select a random monster. Niantic stated that, while developing Trainer Battles, they wanted to “create an experience that everyone can enjoy and ensure that different kinds of Pokémon can show their strengths! With leagues in Trainer Battles, we hope to create a system that’s accessible to many Trainers”.
The Trainer Battles feature was expected to be a part of Pokémon Go when the game was first released. Now, more than two years later, players will finally get this new addition that will surely make their favorite game even more fun.
