Google is one of the busiest companies these days. Although we are close to the end of this year and we thought that smartphone manufacturers surprised us enough for one year, Google isn’t going to start their holiday vacation soon.
The last few months have been very intense for this company and during recent weeks they showed us that even good devices can be improved. Now, they are dazzling the mobile world again with their latest release – the December 2018 Android security patch.
For the time being, the update is only available for Pixel and Nexus devices. Luckily, we could see images with both versions: the factory product and the OTA file. The first variant is ready for download, if someone is willing to install the new security patch manually. If you don’t feel like updating your device now, you could wait until the OTA file will automatically arrive on your phone.
The new security patch gives smartphones improved functionality
So far, only a few devices received the December update: Pixel 2, 3, 2 XL, 3 XL and Pixel C Other smartphones ran by Android Oreo which are up to receive Google’s new security patch are Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X. Better security means improved functionality:
- All updated smartphones come with improved memory performance;
- The camera can perform better;
- The Audio function receives a few modern features;
- Connectivity works better and faster.
These are only a few examples, but there are more exciting news to be discovered when it comes to Google’s new security update. The OTA version is easy to install, so everybody can do it on his/her device. Just make sure that the file comes from a trustworthy source. These are all the details we know so far, but we will keep you posted as soon as we learn more.
