A New Fallout 76’ Patch for PS4 Pretty Much Replaces the Whole Game

Before Fallout 76, a popular title created by Bethesda, was released, its beta testers noticed an issue that made the game to redownload itself on their PCs without any reason. Now, it looks like the players that use PS4 have to face something quite similar, as a new patch released for Fallout 76 replaces almost the entire game on this platform.

The new Fallout 76’ patch has 47GB on PS4

The major update, which has just been released for all platforms, is supposed to improve the stability and performance of the game, as well as to fix some issues with the PVP mode, according to the patch notes. However, the size of the patch for PS4 is extremely big at 47GB, considering the fact that Fallout 76’ initial install size is 53GB. Moreover, once the patch is applied, it occupies more or less the same amount of space.

The game already requires almost 100GB

Although the size of the patch for PC and Xbox is much smaller at 15GB, the players with bandwidth caps are surely not fully satisfied, as the game already requires almost 100GB in just few weeks. After all, most users got close to their limits by purchasing autumn releases.

The patch sizes are expected to grow even bigger in the future

The huge size of Fallout 76’ recent patch does not come as a surprise, as the game developers stated before the update was released that it will be “large compared to what we expect for patches going forward”. Since Overwatch more or less reinstalled itself for the second time with the new update, it could be a good moment for ISPs to somehow adjust the bandwidth restrictions to the growing sizes of games. For now, it looks like this growing trend will continue.
