Xiaomi’s Mi Mix 3 Will Have Sliding Cameras and Will Not Require a Notch

Mi Mix 3, Xiaomi’s newest full-screen flagship smartphone, has just been announced by the Chinese company. Thanks to the fact that the selfie cameras are hidden on a sliding mechanism, this device will have a great screen-to-body ratio with no need for a notch.  However, the slider is not going to be powered by motors, as it was in the case of Oppo Find X and Vivo Nex. According to Lei Jun, the company’s CEO, the design of Mi Mix 3 resembles sliding mechanisms of older phones, which will provide a lot of fun to its users.

Xiaomi achieves a great screen-to-body ratio

The Chinese company attempted to limit the bezels on the screen on its two older Mi Mix smartphones, but the result was rather poor, as the front camera placed below the screen was forcing users to hold the device upside-down while taking a selfie. This in turn convinced Xiaomi to introduce a notch to the Mi 8 earlier in 2018. Now, it looks like they finally managed to achieve their goal. Mi Mix 3 is said to have a screen-to-body ratio of 93.4 percent, while the “chin” at the bottom of the screen has been reduced by almost 4.5 millimeters.

Mi Mix 3 will have a 6.4-inch 1080p OLED panel. There will be two front (24MP selfie camera and 2MP sensor) and two back cameras (12MP wide-angle and telephoto modules). A fingerprint sensor, located on the back of Mi Mix 3, will be a nice addition for sure.
